I'm Vanessa Gotthainer, founder of C-Level Executive Advisors.

For more than two decades, I have worked alongside Chairmen, CEOs, COOs, CIOs, founders, and senior executives in some of the world's most demanding professional environments.

My career has taken me through global finance, management consulting, international education, nonprofits, and entrepreneurial organizations, but the role I have played has remained remarkably consistent:

Understand what matters. Anticipate what is coming. Create order around complexity. And make sure things get done.

Working at this level taught me that exceptional executive support is not defined by a task list.

It is defined by judgment.

It is knowing when to step in and when to escalate. Understanding an executive's priorities well enough to anticipate conflicts before they become problems. Recognizing what can be handled independently. Maintaining discretion when the information is sensitive. And creating enough structure around a leader that they can focus their attention where it matters most.

That is the experience I bring to every CLEA engagement.

How it all started...

I didn't set out to build an administrative services business. I built CLEA around the kind of executive support I had spent my career providing.

Throughout my career, I saw firsthand how much depends on the person working behind a senior executive.

The strongest executive support professionals are rarely just managing calendars, booking travel, or responding to requests.

They become the connective tissue around the executive.

They understand the people, priorities, deadlines, sensitivities, and moving pieces surrounding the role. They know what happened in the last meeting, what needs to happen before the next one, who is waiting for an answer, and which seemingly small detail could become tomorrow's problem.

Most importantly, they reduce the amount of management required from the executive they support.

I founded C-Level Executive Advisors in 2018 to bring that level of support to executives and organizations that need senior-level capability, judgment, and continuity but may not need, or be ready for, another traditional full-time hire.

Today, I work with a small number of clients at a time, becoming deeply familiar with how each executive operates and providing consistent support across the executive office.

That can mean managing a complex calendar one moment, coordinating international travel the next, preparing for an important meeting, following up across a team, drafting executive communications, researching a special project, implementing a new system, or simply recognizing that something needs to happen before anyone has asked me to do it.

The work changes. The standard does not.

My engagements often become long-term relationships because effective executive support becomes more valuable with context. The better I understand how you work, the people around you, your preferences, and your priorities, the more I can anticipate what you need and the less you need to manage me.
